Meet Ruth & Martine!
Leadership
Both women took care of their mothers in their home and have been in the health & home care industry for decades. Looking for a way to improve the quality of services currently available in the state of Connecticut, Ruth and Martine decided to put together a team to start a company that is willing to go above and beyond for their clients. They know firsthand from their decades of experience how important it is to provide unmatched client services, improved communication with the families and outside treatment teams, and to pay attention to the details. This mentality of setting the bar high, flows down throughout the entire Truliv team, especially to the caregivers themselves.
Lastly, if anyone knows the power of a smile and laughter, it’s Ruth and Martine. They want to make sure this experience, which can be stressful and difficult for some individuals, will be as enjoyable and pleasant as possible. Of course, the number one priority is always safety and to ensure the client is being cared for to the very best of our ability. They set the standards high because its what they would want for their own family members.
Payment Options
Typically, health insurance plans do not cover live-in caregivers. Most families choose either private payments or long-term care insurance. Truliv understands the hardship that can come with paying for services. That is why we make our best effort to keep our services as affordable as possible.
With live-in services, families pay a per-day flat rate. Costs can vary slightly depending on the level of support that is needed for each particular client.
The per-day cost is clearly provided to the client/family upfront. There will not be any surprises or fine print.
Private Pay
Private payments are accepted from the client or family members caring for their loved one. Some individuals utilize savings, pensions, social security and/or retirement benefits. Some families also look into their home equity or reverse mortgages. Our team is also trained to help identify assistance programs that can help individuals with financial hardships.
Long-Term Home Care Insurance
If the client has long-term home care insurance, Truliv will be happy to work with you to help determine if the benefits include our services. If so, this insurance can help cover some or all of the costs.

What Our Live-In Caregivers Need
Living Quarters
To utilize Truliv’s live-in caregivers, a separate bedroom with storage for their belongings is required. Caregivers need either 8 hours of sleep or at least 5 uninterrupted hours, along with adequate time for meals and personal breaks.
Transportation
Many live-in caregivers drive and can accompany your loved one to appointments, grocery shopping, or to run errands. If you prefer, a caregiver can drive the family’s vehicle or use their own vehicle. If this service is desired by the client, please inform the intake coordinator.
